The top is supported by a steel column containing the gas spring height adjustment mechanism. A convenient hand release just below the desk surface lets each individual choose the angle that best meets their working requirement - lockable at any point from a slight -2° tilt to folded fully vertical against the lift column. A ledge along the front edge of work surface ensures that laptops, notebooks, or papers cannot slide off of the tilted surface.

• When using this as a computer workstation adjust the height and tilt to match your height, whether sitting, leaning or standing. You want to have your elbows hanging almost directly below your shoulders, with your shoulders relaxed. Your elbows should be roughly level with, or just slightly below the front edge of the desk, depending to a degree on how steep an angle the surface is set to.
• If the desk surface is appropriately positioned, you should be able to type with your forearms and back of your hands aligned almost straight.
• If using this with a laptop, get an external keyboard to position at the front edge. You can then place the laptop higher up and further away on the surface. This will provide you with a better viewing distance and reduce the amount of angle that you need to bend your neck to when viewing the screen. You may also wish to deploy a laptop stand to elevate the screen even further.
