The M570 Wireless Trackball takes most of the repetitive movements and strain which the entire hand usually must perform and allocates all the workload to the thumb of the user. Accurate optical tracking is provided by a 570 DPI laser sensor housed below the ball. With a contoured body that provides a relaxing support for the hand, the M570 is equipped with a scroll wheel and right and left click buttons, all positioned as with a traditional mouse. In addition there are Back and Forward Buttons for convenience when browsing through multiple pages.
Connection is via a storable USB mini receiver and a single AA battery can provide up to 18 months of service. A battery life indicator will advise when the battery needs replacing. Software available from Logitech enables users to customize their trackball functions and performance.
Note: As the M570 places the workload fully upon the thumb, (which on most other trackballs is generally shared amongst several fingers), anyone who has existing thumb issues would be well-advised to consider alternative solutions. | Ergonomic Benefits |

Reduces Strain on Arm, Elbow and Shoulder Muscles Like a touchpad, the M570 Wireless Trackball is a stationary mousing device (i.e. moving the ball with the thumb moves the cursor on the screen). Limiting the repetitive movements of the arm and shoulder can greatly reduce the potential for injury and inflammation in these muscle groups. The housing of a trackball can also be angled in any direction, meaning the elbow, wrist and hand can be kept in a straight line, and to limit ulnar and radial deviation. Learn More About Ulnar Deviation.
Reduces Strain on the Hand, Wrist and Arm Trackballs effectively counter any tendency the user might have to grip the pointing device too hard. This often inadvertent static grip can cause pain and injury to the muscles and soft tissues in the back of the hand and in the wrist and forearm. The M570 Wireless Trackball, by requiring a simple spinning motion accomplished with the thumb, largely eliminates static grip. Learn More About Static Grip Force.
Ergonomic Support The M570 Wireless Trackball features a contoured shape which provides a natural, relaxing support for the hand. Note: Those with larger hands may find that in order to practically move the trackball or perform clicks they must move their hand back on the mouse, sacrificing the support under the palm. In this scenario they may benefit from considering an option which is better suited to larger hands.
Reduces Reach for Buttons The M570 Wireless Trackball positions the left and right buttons as well as the scroll wheel for natural access by the fingers used on a traditional mouse. The fingers are actually able to relax against the buttons, assisting in avoiding the development of Trigger Finger. Software to customize the button functions is available from Logitech. Learn more about Trigger Finger.
Can Be Used In Locations Where a Mouse Can’t The M570 Wireless Trackball can be used as easily on the arm of a couch as on the desk, or wherever else the user might find convenient and comfortable. This makes it a convenient device if using a Smart TV.
Lightweight Ball The 34 mm trackball on the M570 Wireless Trackball is light and features a silky, smooth movement.

- Convenient Back/Forward Control: Dual buttons enable users to easily move forward and backward when surfing the Web.
- Dedicated Scroll Wheel: The M570 Wireless Trackball includes a dedicated scroll wheel positioned in the traditional position between the left and right click buttons.
- Thumb Cursor Control: Cursor control is accomplished by the thumb, leaving the fingers free to perform clicking and scrolling.
- Wireless Convenience: The M570 Wireless Trackball operates on 2.4 GHz wireless which offers a 30' range, convenient for operating devices from a distance.
- Optical Tracking Technology: Optical Tracking ensures precision cursor control.
- 34 mm Trackball: The 34 mm ball can easily be moved by users with any size of hand. The movement requires minimal effort so the load on the thumb is minimal. Although low effort is required the ball still offers sufficient resistance, ensuring that users can retain a high level of control. Movement is smooth and accurate.
- Low Maintenance Design: The trackball on the M570 can be easily removed for cleaning when necessary.
- Natural Hand Support: The body of the M570 Wireless Trackball is shaped to provide users with small to average size hands a natural, supportive contour on which to rest their hand. Users with larger hands will not be able to fully benefit from the supportive design since access to the buttons and trackball will require that they move their hand back and away from the body of the trackball. For this reason these users may wish to consider an alternative trackball option.
- Customizing Software: Logitech offers software for both PC and MAC which enables users to customize their M570 Wireless Trackball functions.

| Usage Tips |
---|
- Since all cursor movement is accomplished by the thumb users should be vigilant and take notice if any pain begins to develop. Should this occur it would be wise to immediately reduce the usage or change to a device which does not require thumb movement. Most people are quite aware of carpal tunnel and often shift to trackballs as an alternative to address existing RSI issues or as a precautionary measure. However, most are not aware of the danger which can exist from overuse of the thumb. De Quervain Syndrome or De Quervain's Tenosynovitis can be as painful and debilitating as the other more commonly known RSI.
Learn more about De Quervain's Tenosynovitis. - If you are new to a trackball expect that it will take a while to get accustomed to the different style of control. It is also a good idea to limit the amount of time you use it in the first while. Rather, build up to longer periods of usage by interchanging with a different mousing device or by Load Balancing (see next point).
- Load Balance Your Use: Since the M570 Wireless Trackball is a dedicated right hand mousing device it cannot be switched between hands. For this reason it is a good idea to have an alternate mousing device either for either the left or right hand which can be used to give the thumb a break from continuous usage.
- Take regular breaks. If you find that you are experiencing discomfort in your thumb, especially in the learning stages - that is a good sign that you may want to take a break by switching to a different device or by swapping to the other hand. As with any device, make an effort to regularly change your usage, take breaks, and perform stretches. Some users find that the fingers can benefit from occasionally flexing them through a full range of movement, both extending and contracting them fully.
